As part of my fascination with the American art-deco scene, I’m also into 1920-1930’s music, and I recently discovered this track:

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we’ll all stay free

Praise the Lord and swing into position
Can’t afford to be a politician
Praise the Lord, we’re all between perdition
And the deep blue sea

Yes the sky pilot said it
Ya gotta give him credit
For a sonofagun of a gunner was he

Shouting Praise the Lord, we’re on a mighty mission
All aboard, we ain’t a-goin’ fishin’
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we’ll all stay free

I don’t know about you, but the lyrics are quite hilariously strange to me. The joyous chorus-full melody is even eerier:

My friend Kamal pointed this out recently:

That is a British World War II propaganda poster. I find it interesting for a number of reasons:
1- This poster actually asks you to keep quiet and submit while other posters are much more vociferous and activist:

Actually, it reminds me of 1984. And it’s interesting that it comes from Britain – the country which gave birth to Orwell and which even today has the strictest, foulest privacy-invasive policies. In Britain, the government has the explicit right to monitor any Internet connection and to access every email account.
Also, this poster makes me wonder if Britain, unlike say, the States, would attempt to make news of the war sound more casual or of no real causal importance, when the States or the USSR would attempt to alter the media to represent themselves as superior (being the strongest, winning the war, denouncing the enemy as weak or ideologically insane etc)…
But then again, didn’t Britain have Churchill handling her during WWII? He’s not exactly the most submissive type, so it’s interesting that his country would produce a poster that is so contrasting with his character.

2- The typography and colour scheme is well ahead of its time! Very little of today’s posters are this well done. Also, the CCCP poster above possesses tangible artistic value (ironically art-deco-ish and even industrialist) especially when compared to the ugly USA activist poster:
